CeBIT 2012 Day 2 Wrap-Up: A Touch-friendly Display for Ultrabooks

Alright folks, that’s a wrap on CeBIT 2012 Day Two. Here’s a look back at the new tech we uncovered from the yearly tech show. Like yesterday, there’s news on ultrabooks, namely Fujitsu’s first entrant to the category but also a demo with a thin-and-light that includes a multitouch-sensitive display. Unlike yesterday, we also went hands-on with a Audi’s in-dash infotainment system and a sensor that’ll make you a better gardener.

How about an ultrabook that lets you pinch-to-zoom and scroll by touching the display and not the trackpad? Intel demo'ed just such a thing today, and it could be coming soon to a PC near you.

Tobit Software Demos Racy Robots On-Stage at CeBIT

So, things have calmed down at CeBIT, you finally have a chance to slow down and take in the Hannover Messe’s many halls at a leisurely pace. Sit down, rest a while and feast your eye’s on Tobit Software’s… pole-dancing robots.

The Tobit Software booth is designed to look like a club–and, dare we say, a full-on strip club at that. Above tables where, ahem, patrons enjoyed drinks, three white robots are grooving away on stage. Two decidedly “female” robots are gyrating away on poles, while a DJ robot in the middle provides the beats. Their moves are controlled by a computer by a Wi-Fi connection. Though the ‘bots were made from old car parts, their price is quite high-end: reportedly some €30,000 ($40,000). Impressive robotics? Spotted at CeBIT: Pink Samsung Galaxy Note (hitting Germany in two months)

Here’s a fun first glimpse from the Samsung booth at CeBIT here in Hannover: a pink Galaxy Note that will make its way to the German market in about two months. No word on when it will hit the states, but considering that it’s a pink Galaxy Note, we think it’s safe to say it will.

Unfortunately, the pink model on hand was just a dummy, so we were only able to compare its form factor and finish with the Galaxy Note in white. Same dimensions, of course; the main difference here is a more textured finish on the pink Note’s back.
