With their 1-GHz (or faster) processors and 4G data speeds, smart phones have never been more powerful–or more power hungry. Yes, specs and apps matter, but what good are they if you’re hunting for an outlet by lunchtime? If you want a smartphone that endures, check out the handsets that made our list. These devices lasted at least 5.45 hours on the LAPTOP Battery Test, which involves continuous web surfing over 3G/4G on 40-percent brightness.

On the LAPTOP Battery Test, the Maxx lasted an epic 8 hours and 25 minutes. With this kind of staying power, you can expect to use your phone well into the evening without having to recharge. After unplugging the Maxx at 7 a.m. on a Saturday and using it intermittently, it still had 20 percent of a charge left by Sunday at 8 p.m. Unfortunately, the battery is non-removable, so forget about buying a third-party extended battery or carrying a spare.
