The Nature Conservancy does good work protecting the environment and defending wild lands worldwide. It also sponsors an annual photography contest that we featured last year in a popular Windows 7 theme. Our Nature Conservancy 2011 Windows 7 theme features photographers who were finalists or given honorable mentions in the 2011 photo contest and were kind enough to grant us permission to use their work.

"Victory Lakes," by Kristin CastenschioldTwo of the contributors this year focused on birds: Jon Winslow captured a male bluebird, while Jim Ridley got an amazing shot of a mother hummingbird and fledgling in their nest. Alessandro Abate contributed an intimate portrait of a Brown Anole lizard. Kristin Castenschiold takes a wider view with her glorious landscape shot of Victory Lakes in Williamstown, New Jersey.
The Nature Conservancy 2011 Windows 7 Theme also features sound effects from two members of the Freesound.org online collective: HardPCM and reinsamba both offered birdsong audio clips under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license.
If you love wildlife and wild places, you'll enjoy our free Nature Conservancy Windows 7 Theme. I hope these beautiful images inspire you to visit the Nature Conservancy site and make a donation.
Note: To install this Windows 7 theme, unzip the downloaded archive and double-click the themepack file within. Windows does the rest. Make sure to read the readme file to get details on the images and sound effects in this theme.
